Photograph of Great Egret: I was standing on a rickety wooden landing on the bank of the Rainbow River, Florida, when this beautiful Great Egret flew right up to me and landed on the railing. He stood there for a while, then inched closer, carefully examining me and filling my heart with love for his beauty. As he inched closer I had to move back to retain focus. When I had created a few perfect images I said "thank you, my dear friend", and moved back, so as not to startle him. It happens fairly often that wild creatures approach me, this is a special gift and one that will always be treasured. Copyright notice does not appear on print.

Painting of Great Blue Heron Mating Dance: This gorgeous male flew in with a branch for their nest & the female graciously received it. They rubbed beaks together for a few minutes, then the male flew off to fetch another. This is true compassion and love in the wild, and I was privileged to be there. The original photograph was taken at Venice Rookery, Venice, FL. It's rare to be able to shoot images like this, so I created a very special painting to convey the love and compassion I saw and felt in the wild that day.

Video & Photography of American Bittern Eating a Banded Watersnake:

As soon as he had swallowed the snake he took a few sips of water and went straight back to hunting mode, catching a small fish. This caught me by surprise & I didn't get the shot because I thought he had enough food to last a week. Lesson learned.

One of the photographs near the end shows the snake biting the American Bittern on the face. Another photograph which we have not shown reveals a small wound on the bird's face. Banded Watersnakes are not venomous & we filmed another 3 of them in this area soaking up the sun.

Our wildlife of Florida is losing their precious habitat and we are doing everything we can to bring awareness to their plight. The sale of prints helps supports these efforts.

We have some of the most beautiful birds in the world in sunny South Florida. The weather is warm and food plentiful, but there is still competition for this food and for safe nesting places. Alligators, Snakes, Raccoons, Bobcats & Birds of Prey cruise the Wetlands hoping to catch an easy meal.

Our wildlife of Florida is losing their precious habitat and we are doing everything we can to bring awareness to their plight. The sale of prints helps support these efforts.
